2019 Lenten retreat Weekend

Archdeacon Saed Rihani is from Saint Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church in Palos Heights, Illinois. He completed his undergraduate studies in Psychology at the University of Illinois in Chicago, and his Master of Divinity degree at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in New York.

His career spanned over 35 years in various roles at the City Colleges of Chicago; they include roles such as Associate Vice Chancellor overseeing district-wide programs, Director of various programs, and most recently as Academic Advisor. With this background, Deacon Saed has the perspective of teens and young adults in the real world, and their plight with the challenges of career, family and their spiritual lives as well. Deacon Saed brings this experience to his ministry with teens and the young adults at his parish, and shares it with all whom he encounters.

He assists with overseeing the Youth and Young Adult Ministry programs in his volunteer capacity at his home parish. He has planned, executed and managed many Retreats on various topics for Teens, Young Adults, Sunday School staff and Antiochian Women from various parishes across the Archdiocese during his 30 years as Deacon.

Deacon Saed was invited by Metropolitan JOSEPH to join him and be the Keynote Speaker at the 'Orthodox Young Professionals Conference' held in August 2016 in New Orleans, LA. This conference was attended by over 150 young professionals from across all jurisdictions.

He was ordained sub-deacon, deacon and in 2013 elevated to the rank of Archdeacon, all by the hands of Metropolitan PHILIP of Thrice-Blessed Memory. His greatest accomplishment is his two children, his daughter Dalia (30), who was recently married to a wonderful young man, Aaron; and his son Michael (28). Deacon Saed loves doing the work of the Lord. He is dynamic in his presentations, and is known for keeping his audience entertained, and informed at the same time!

He took an early retirement from his job at the City Colleges of Chicago in order to further his ministry at his local parish and diocese.
We have invited Archdeacon Saed Rihani of St. Mary Orthodox Church in Palos Heights, IL to lead three enriching talks that will encourage and inspire us in our Orthodox journey.
